2026 Mountain Bike Program

Build Cycling Academy is a junior development program for athletes with at least one year of high school mountain bike racing experience who want to deepen their understanding of training, nutrition, and race strategy.

Athlete Requirements

  • A mountain bike less than five years old
  • Clip-in shoes, or a willingness to begin using them within the first few weeks of the season
  • Prior experience racing at least one high school MTB season

Build Cycling Academy is ideal for motivated athletes who are ready to move beyond simply “riding hard” and begin learning the fundamentals of structured training, racing strategy and proper nutrition while training alongside a committed peer group and knowledgeable coaches.

Because the program follows a progressive sequence, athletes are expected to attend most scheduled practices. Missing sessions may result in falling behind as skills, fitness, as concepts build week to week.

Program Structure

  • Season: 16 weeks, March 25th thru July 16 (No practice week of July 4)
  • Frequency: 2 coached team gatherings per week
  • Cost: $1875
  • Duration: Approximately 2 hours per session
  • Focus: Fitness development, skills, race tactics, and preparation aligned with upcoming events and athlete goals
  • Additional opportunities: Athletes who are identified as ready for more advanced training may have the opportunity to receive an individualized training plan delivered through TrainingPeaks. Additional costs apply.

Practice Schedule

Spring

  • Wed/Thurs 4:30–6:30 PM
  • Meeting locations rotate throughout the Superior and Lafayette areas to maximize daylight, Short track racing on Wednesdays in May

Racing & Development Focus

The program supports riders across a range of ability levels—from developing racers to experienced competitors—meeting athletes at their current level and helping them progress toward their goals. A key focus is preparing riders with the fitness, skills, and knowledge needed for success in the fall high school mountain bike season.

Racing opportunities primarily include local Front Range events, with team participation in races such as The Bear, Fangdango, Valmont Short Track and select Winter Park XC Series events.

Take your racing to the next level with Build Cycling Academy.
