Yes, this is a pre-season training block that runs Jan 22nd through March to help riders build a strong aerobic foundation over the winter months with consistent riding, baseline fitness/VO2 max testing, and progressive group rides to build community with their teammates. This leads into the regular BUILD season that starts in April.
All Zwift rides are scheduled and coached, so your rider will have support and coaching on these rides. They are *not* just a "show up and ride on your own" generic setup.
MTB is all you need for outdoor rides. For indoor trainer rides, you can use any bike available that connects to a smart trainer and Zwift.
For indoor workouts, a smart trainer that connects to Zwift and a bike that fits on the trainer. Any bike type is fine for indoor training.

Join BUILD Cycling Academy on Zwift for weekly training sessions, group rides, and races from the "comfort" of your own pain cave. Connect your Smart Trainer, set up your Zwift and Discord accounts, and join the BUILD Zwift Club to get started! Winter programming runs from January 22nd, through March 31st, 2024.
Weather permitting, outdoor group rides are scheduled to complement indoor training. Riders will primarily focus on zone 2/base training, extending duration, and building durability with progressively longer and/or more difficult rides. Early season race preparation will be a component of this for riders signed up for spring events.
If you do not have a smart trainer and would like to rent one from BUILD, you can reach out to Coach Ryan and set up a rental for a Wahoo KICKR Snap for $25/month. This is a trainer that requires a "wheel on" setup, so thick MTB tires are not ideal, but smooth road or CX tires will work just fine. This requires a Bluetooth connection or ANT+ usb dongle to connect with Zwift. Check this help documentation for basics of setting up your smart trainer for Zwift.
The full winter training program costs $300 and runs from January through March, leading into the full regular start of the season. Registration also includes 1x VO2 max test and training ranges to set you up for the winter season.
